Welcome to Casa Di Nikolas, the home we built on the quiet side of Naxos, just a two-minute walk from Plaka Beach. We are Evi and Petros, and for a few weeks each year we share this house, named after our son, with a small number of guests who come to rest, slow down, and breathe the sea air we fell in love with many summers ago.

Built in the traditional Cycladic scale of ninety square metres, the house is intimate by intention. The ground floor is a single open living space where the kitchen and the living room share the same room, flowing effortlessly through wide glass doors onto the terrace and the garden. Upstairs, two bedrooms rest quietly above, both facing west to the afternoon light. Warm cream walls, honey oak woodwork, and honed stone floors carry the Mediterranean palette throughout, softening in the low sun until the whole room turns gold.

Outside, the terrace runs seamlessly into the garden beneath a walnut pergola shaded by a traditional ligaria canopy. An L-shaped sofa of raw Naxian stone sits beneath it, softened with linen cushions and the scent of rosemary growing close behind. A long wooden table is set for eight, and an outdoor kitchen waits for long evenings. Bougainvillea climbs one wall, jasmine opens beside the kitchen door after dark, and the pool sits further in, ringed by mature olive trees.

Upstairs, the two bedrooms share a small private balcony, an intimate place for a morning coffee, an afternoon book, or a quiet hour at sunset. At night, with the windows open, the distant waves, the cicadas in the olive trees, and the soft summer breeze find their way inside, and that, we have come to believe, is the true soul of the house.
